lm004. Could this be one of the Thames defence forts near Gravesend? No, it's a series of barges drawn up on the mud flats which also had a film made about them, centred on Gravesend. Alastair says "On picture 4, I believe the location is the Swale Estuary between Conyer and Oare. I walk my dog here. I have included an map reference: Postcode district: ME9 9, Grid ref: TQ966654, Lat: 51:21:16N (51.35448), Lon: 0:49:20E (0.82227). I think the actual shot is taken at the junction of the two paths which you can see if you look on Google Earth. A number of the old barge ribs still lie in the mud to this day".

lm004n. Wow, still there and slowly rotting. Skeletal remains found and photographed by John Mason. Wonderful stuff. Stangate Creek, Iwade. R D Marchant.

lo004an. Going back to the above shot. Graham Davies suggests the map coordinates are wrong, which may re-open the debate. He provides 51.389987, 0.716964. Here in the meantime is a Google shot on the river Medway, northwest of Iwade. SJ

Long Memory, The

lm005. Flats in Gravesend?

lm005n. John Carwardine identifies this as Mount Avenue, Ealing, London W5 looking east at the junction with Helena Road which is to the right. Slightly further east that lm006 and lm007. Cannot quite get the right angle with this supporting Google Earth shot. (RL)

Long Memory, The - Pelham Road, Gravesend. The house is gone but the tower and chimneys belong to the old driving test centre in Pelham Road. The 'flats' and the house have been replaced by modern college buildings and townhouses. Liam Hudson.

lm006n. The location is actually Mount Avenue in Ealing.Unfortunately the trees make it difficult to take the now shot and the wall has been replaced by a tall hedge - but this is the house - see also lm007n.This same location was used in 'The Magnet'see mg009-mg016. John Owens sorted this one.

lm008n. The building with the tower and the house with the 3 chimney pots have gone - but the right hand gatepost is still there. This pic is copyright Google Streetview 2010. Mount Road, Ealing sorted by John Owens. Well done. John Carwardine adds that the large house in the background was demolished to make way for the new houses in the 60's/early 70's. The grounds were large enough to create the whole close named Park Gate.
