Comparing with The Blue Lamp bl001 & bl002 the buildings at the far end are identical so could this be Compton St W2. Now all gone. David Neicho.

I Believe in You - This should be Battersea, I think. Are there any power station experts out there? 'Cecil Parker with large chimneys in background-dead easy, even I could recognise this as Lots Road power station, Chelsea' ~ Pat Loobey

ib005. This should be Battersea, I think. Are there any power station experts out there? 'Cecil Parker with large chimneys in background-dead easy, even I could recognise this as Lots Road power station, Chelsea' ~ Pat Loobey

ib005n. Now. Taken from Cringle street looks about right ~ Ray Simmon. P Brown says; The original picture IS of Lots Road power station. It is now part of the Chelsea Harbour development and has lost two of its chimneys. The NOW picture 005an shows Battersea (concrete clad chimney at each corner - derelict for years). These two are often confused (although they are far from similar). There was a third large power station about a half mile up river from Lots Road, which was Fulham Power Station - 4 chimneys in a line parallel to the river (now almost completely demolished).

I Believe in You - Robbie Paterson wished to correct the location identifications attached to 005 and 005a providing a map, comparative Google Earth view and other Internet evidence. The street is actually Upcerne Road which used to stretch up to the Kings Road. The northern half was turned into a park circa 1981 replacing damaged housing and the Prefabs following controversial redevelopment plans. The camera was located at the crossroads with Meek Street.

ib005bn. A visit to what is now Westfield Park provides not only a view of the Park and the remaining housing in Upcerne Road but also an "interpretation board" giving a timeline of events, a map and photographs of that area. The board is actually located at that very crossroads. (RL)

Top left hand corner of the picture is the Brook Rd stand of Griffin Park (Brentford FC) which has now been demolished, with thanks to Peter Townley who has solved a 10 year-old mystery.
