romex001. The Rome Express makes its way through France. The Rome Express operated between 1890 and 1969 when it was renamed after the section between Calais and Paris was withdrawn.
romex002. The Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits train passes over a double track viaduct. Likely to be second unit shots but the locations are currently unknown.
romex003. Over the frontier, Italian Police join the train after a murder on board.
romex004. As Head of the Sûreté, Monsieur Jolif questions suspects, the journey to Rome continues. The loco is a Compagnie des chemins de fer de l'Est (Eastern Railway) Class 241A dating from the mid 1920s.
romex005. The camera pans with the train as it passes through a series of short tunnels.
romex006. Rome is reached, but is this a real terminal or an impressive set? Assuming that the engine has arrived first, then Roma Termini station is completely enclosed at the far end of the photo, so likely to be a set, or a different station. Peter Brown has found a picture of the outside of the station in 1932 that reveals features supporting that this is not a set.
