lgf015. Harold meets Billy at The Governor General public house.

lgf015n. Vinny O'loughlin believes the public house to be "The Governor General" that was on the corner of Verdant Lane and Whitefoot Lane, Catford SE6 He says that as Razors throws Billy against the wall there is a poster listing forthcoming events, where the pub's previous name, "The Northover" can be seen. He supports with this picture from Basil Oliver's 1947 book The Renaissance of the English Public House, published by Faber. The pub was demolished in the 1990's and is now a petrol station. I have found an enjoyable read, a forum covering “rough pubs/bars” http://www.cpfc.org/forums/archive/index.php/t-33740.html back in 2003 where two writers remember “The Northover” and the bar being used in the film. lgf018n. And here is the the same location now. Peter advises that the shot is "Difficult to match and assumes the totaliser stood in the north-east corner of the stadium as research shows. This is taken from what I think was Harringay Slopes".
